Is Voter Intimidation Really the Way Obama Wants to Win?

Published by cgardener at 3:31 pm under Craziness Edit This

We’re already hearing reports of voter intimidation by the Black Panthers in Philadephia. No surprise there. Black voters have been intimidated at the polls for decades. Maybe it’s time for a little payback.

Don’t jump on me…I’m white. Very white. WASP white. I was raised in the south, though, so I’ve seen this time and time again. Why do you think black people don’t vote? It’s just the truth, and the truth needs to be told.

But seriously, is this how Obama wants to win this election? Actions like these just give the McCain camp a reason to call for a recount in a state that is already too close to call. So what can Obama do against a radical group like the Black Panthers? What does he need to do?

Obama needs to get on television now, before it gets worse, before violence breaks out, and call the dogs off. Not that they are his dogs, but he needs to make it very clear to the leaders of these organizations, and to anyone else who is thinking of using these kinds of tactics, that it is NOT acceptable to him, and that he does NOT support it, and that he will NOT be helping them with anything they want once he is elected if they continue this behavior now. He needs to drop the calm, cool, rational exterior for a moment, and make sure people know that this behavior makes him angry.

Only Obama can make this stop, and he needs to do it right away. So come on, Barack…get off your butt and get out there and let these people know that you do not stand for violence and intimidation. Do it quickly, and do it resolutely…stand up and be Presidential!

On days like today, I really miss Martin Luther King.

I see your point with this, but remember, whether it’s racially based or party based, stuff like this happens every election cycle.

In Wisconsin in ‘04 the big news was that Democrats were slashing tires of school buses Republicans chartered to take elderly people from the nursing home to the polls.

The only scary part about this is that the tiny minority of people who are ignorant enough that they did not vote for Obama just because he was black will see this story and say, “See, that’s what those black people do.” But again, as I think this election has showed, the number of people who think like this is much smaller than ever before, and smaller than any of us thought it would be.
